A man is facing burglary charges after police officers saw him enter an unlocked vehicle in northwest suburban Elgin, according to police.
Officers on patrol in the 200 block of McClure Avenue at 1:05 a.m. Tuesday saw 37-year-old Garrett Paulus enter an unlocked car parked in the driveway of a home, according to a statement from Elgin police. When he noticed the officers, he got out of the vehicle and tried to walk away.
Paulus, who lived in the 700 block of Murray Avenue in Elgin, was arrested “without incident” and charged with a felony count of burglary to a motor vehicle, police said.
He appeared in Kane County bond court Wednesday and was released on his own recognizance.
