UPDATE: A second expressway shooting has just occurred on the Eisenhower Expressway... just hours after an earlier shooting... more to come when availableA man was killed and a female was wounded in a shooting early Thursday on the Eisenhower Expressway in the East Garfield Park neighborhood on the West Side, police said.
The two victims, whose ages were not immediately known, were shot about 6 p.m. on westbound I-290 near South California, according to preliminary information from Illinois State Police.
The Cook County medical examiner’s office could not immediately confirm the fatality early Thursday.
They were both taken to Stroger Hospital, but the female’s condition was not immediately available, police said.
Police said they will be closing down all westbound I-290 lanes about 7:30 a.m. to search for shell casings.
