Activist Ja’Mal Green was released from Cook County Jail Tuesday evening after getting arrested over the weekend during a demonstration that protested last week's fatal shootings by police in Louisiana and Minnesota.Despite deeming the $350,000 bond set for Green as too high, community and family members helped post his bail, by gathering funds to pay 10 percent of the bond, or $35,000, in order to release Green, according to Cara Smith, a spokeswoman with the Cook County Sheriff’s Office. Green was charged with five felony counts: two of aggravated battery to a police officer, two of aggravated battery in a public place and one of attempting to disarm a police officer, according to a statement from Chicago police. Green was also charged with two misdemeanor counts of resisting/obstructing arrest. As a condition of his release Tuesday evening, Green was placed on electronic monitoring and home confinement, Smith said.
