TRENTON NJ — A former Camden firefighter was sentenced to seven years in state prison Friday for collecting a public disability pension while competing in mixed martial arts tournaments, authorities said.
Shane B. Streater, 41, has also been barred from public employment over the scheme, which started in 2009 when he applied for an accidental disability pension claiming work-related injuries to his neck and back, according to the state Attorney General's Office.
Acting Attorney General Christopher Porrino called the matter "one of the most egregious cases of pension fraud in recent memory."
