On Tuesday, Hobson, wife of filmmaker George Lucas, blasted the nonprofit group Friends of the Parks for denying "young black and brown children" opportunities because of its opposition to the $743 million Lucas Museum project.
Critics wondered why the 46-year-old president of Ariel Investments was linking the museum project to minority children. Others have been wary of any special treatment for the project and its affluent supporters.
In 2013, Hobson and Lucas received perks during the couple's wedding party at Promontory Point. For the star-studded event, the Chicago Park District waived several rules governing event hours, caterers and restrooms, according to documents previously obtained in a Tribune open records request.
